It’s Been A Strong 30 Years For Hyundai Motor America

On Friday February 26, 2016, Hyundai Motor America marked a major milestone as it celebrated its 30th anniversary in the United States.

From its humble beginnings, established by North Korean born Chung Ju-Yung, Hyundai’s founding Chairman, this automotive manufacturer’s rise to become the fifth larger automaker in the world is a remarkable feat.

Ju-Yung worked at various jobs from railway construction to dock work before he found his passion for shipbuilding, which according to The Hyundai Motor Company, he had no experience.

Because of his determination and sheer force of will, Mr. Chung Ju-Yung found himself building “multibillion-dollar mega-projects around the world not long after.

The only car this company was able to bring to the North American market in 1986 was the Hyundai Excel(Pony), a front wheel drive 4-door sedan with little power.

With a focus on affordability, The Excel found success with buyers as 100,000 Excel vehicles were sold within just seven months of its launch. In fact, never has an import car distributor saw the total sales as Hyundai did in its first year of 168,882 units.

Currently, 60 percent of the vehicles sold by Hyundai in the U.S are made in the U.S.A by this car manufacturer. The Sonata and Elantra which represents Hyundai’s best-selling vehicles are built at the company’s manufacturing plant in Alabama.

The IONIQ aims to be a simple and practical solution for reducing emissions with its lineup of 3 choices which include electric,plug-in hybrid and hybrid powertrains. This company who is an official sponsor of the NFL, has continued to focus itself on innovations for the future by seeking advanced solutions within the automotive sector.

With its clever marketing program which not only extends to the National Football League and college football league, Hyundai is also an official automotive parter for FIFA and the title sponsor of the PGA TOUR’S.

Famous for its Assurance program that part of which includes a 5-year/60,000-mile fully transferable new vehicle limited warranty, Hyundai looks to be on a clear track in celebrating another 30-years in the U.S.
